30 Minutes with Mandy is a virtual, full body workout, with timed sets that allow for self pacing, appropriate for most fitness levels and bodies. With every exercise, I give modifications for beginners, advanced versions for those who need a little more challenge, and alternatives if no equipment is available. You can join LIVE at 8am daily, Mon - Fri, or opt for the recorded version to do at YOUR convenience. Class is conducted through Zoom, so there is no need to download yet another new app!
YOUR COACH - MANDY TRICHELL, CPT
I always hated exercise. HATED it. Years of being the first one pummeled in dodge ball and the last one picked for kickball will do that to a person. I never played team sports in school, never practiced a martial art, and I could barely tolerate wrestling with my little brother as a kid. In fact, I went out of my way to avoid having to do anything physical.
In 2005, I stumbled into a local jiu jitsu dojo that also taught cardio kickboxing, and I signed up, hoping to lose the extra weight I was carrying after having three children in a four year span. Months into it, my instructor pulled me aside and commented on my ability to take instruction, as well as the way I was eager to help new people learn. She suggested I look into becoming a certified personal trainer. I was a divorced mother of three, bartending, with no college degree, so this sounded like an excellent idea.
I have now been training professionally since 2007. Since then, I have become certified by PFIT, NASM, and ACE. I am also ADAPT L1 (parkour) and MovNat L2 certified, and I co-founded Urban Movement, Houston's only parkour academy, in 2010.
Early in my career, I saw a need for shorter sessions. It appealed to busy clients with limited time, and to more frugal clients with a limited budget. Most importantly, though, it helps people who are new to exercise (like I once was) feel less intimidated. I want people to know that exercise is for everyone, not just the "go hard or go home" folks. In the words of a dear client of mine, "Your unique ability to transform 'exercise' from myth to reality by cutting through BS makes 30 Minutes w/ Mandy a whole-body invitation rather than a conceptualized ideation of perfection... thirty minutes adds a digestible and viable option for sustaining a life-long commitment to movement."
In 2010, I added a daily class to my client schedule. It was 30 minutes, just like my one-on-one sessions. Each workout is full body, with timed sets that allow for self pacing, and that has become what sets me apart from other trainers and instructors. I say crazy things like, "start low and go slow," and "do what's right for your body."
I still coach this class, enthusiastically, Monday - Friday, with many of my original clients joining me, week in and week out.
Like so many of us, I've had to change the way I conduct my business to continue supporting my clients during these wild and unpredictable times. In March of 2020, I took my training and coaching practices virtual. That includes my daily, 30-minute class. I invite you to join me at your convenience, from anywhere. My class is appropriate for most fitness levels, and although having some equipment is helpful, it is 100% not necessary. With every exercise, I give modifications for beginners, advanced versions for those who need a little more challenge, and alternatives to do if no equipment is available. I go live daily at 8am, but if that time doesn't work for you, you can access the class any time up to one week after broadcast.
